January 29-30 – Darfo Boario Terme, Italy
It was the team's last full day in Seefeld, and the weather did not disappoint! After yesterday's blizzard, the sun was shining all around and I stopped many times on my ski over to capture the otherworldly views. Half of the team had ski intervals that morning, and the new snow conditions definitely favored the skate skiers. The classic skiers ended up with stilts and most of them moved their intervals to the afternoon. The ski trails were busy as Seefeld was preparing to host a Nordic combined world cup on the weekend, and everyone else was enjoying the spectacular weather. We skied back to another delicious lunch, then I did some final shopping around and went back in time for cake! I had a quick sauna before the team meeting and dinner, and then we had an awesome team building activity to finish off the precamp. Building marble rollercoasters out of paper and straws was complex but all the teams succeeded, and it was very entertaining to watch!
The next morning everyone got all packed up, but we still had the opportunity to skate ski one last time in Austria! Lunch was so delicious, and the dessert featured unexpected pop rocks again! We had planned to leave at noon, but a slight key displacement delayed our departure to Italy. We passed many impressive castles and unique little villages on our drive to our destination, Darfo Boario Terme. Once the whole team arrived, we ate pasta for dinner and got ready for the next day in Italy!
