Introduction

Cross Country BC (CCBC) respectfully requests all coaches, athletes, wax technicians, and parents to abide by a self-governed protocol while waxing skis for identified events in British Columbia. This also applies to coaches, athletes, wax technicians, and parents travelling to British Columbia from out-of-province or out-of-country.

Fluoro wax is restricted for all Nordiq Canada-sanctioned events and divisionally sanctioned events (Tier 1, 2 and Tier 3). This includes:

  • Canada Cups
  • Continental Cups (COC) / Nordiq Canada Selection Trials
  • National Championships
  • Teck BC Cup Series – SEE ADDITIONAL PROTOCOLS BELOW
  • Canada Winter Games (CWG) Trials – SEE ADDITIONAL PROTOCOLS BELOW
  • BC Winter Games
  • Teck BC Track Attack Championships – SEE ADDITIONAL PROTOCOLS BELOW
  • Teck Regional Cups
  • Loppets
  • Club Races

The wax protocol outlined below will apply to ALL events and age categories, including Masters categories.

Prior to arrival:

  • Please follow the FIS recommendations to ensure skis and waxing equipment are appropriately cleaned of fluorinated products or residue.
  • Skis entering the event must be cleaned at least once with liquid wax remover and metal brushed before applying paraffin or liquid.

Wax protocol for competitions:

Before you wax – clean the skis.

  • To clean skis, use glide cleaner + cloth + brush to clean the base prior to waxing.

Application of liquid or paraffin waxes.

  • All forms of application are acceptable if the above cleaning steps have been followed.
